Men's Skin Care Is Different But The
Same
For many years, skin care for women has been a million dollar
business. Many companies provided products because of the great profits possible. In more recent years,
men’s skin care has also become big business, and many of the companies that once catered only to women now provide
great products for men. These companies have studied the differences in the skin of men and woman to come up
with the perfect male product line. Although men’s skin care is very different than women’s, there are also
many similarities in the products for both genders.
Men’s skin care starts with products for great cleansing and toning
of the skin. These products have most of the same goals as the products for women, but the ingredients
usually vary from those provided for women.
What You Should Know About Skin Care for
Men
In the past, skin care for men was never popular. A lot of men
stayed away from skin care treatments thinking that these things are unmanly. However, things have changed recently
and men are beginning to pay attention to their skin. In the United States and some other parts of the world, skin
care for men is becoming quite popular.
However, not all men are really convinced about following a skin
care regimen. If you are one of those men who are not yet into this habit of caring for your skin, here are some
things that can help you understand the importance of skin care for men.
Protection from Sun Damage
If you think that skin care for men is just a fad, think again.
Although men’s skin is generally thicker compared to women’s skin, this does not mean that their skin is not
subject to sunburn and other skin damage due to sun exposure. If you work outdoors, it is very important for you to
protect your skin. Note that the ultra violet rays of the sun can cause irreversible damage on your skin and too
much exposure can lead to certain types of cancers.
To protect yourself from the harmful effects of too much sun
exposure, put on sun block before going out to work under the sun. No, it is not unmanly to wear sun block or
wearing protective clothing when working outdoors - protecting yourself is never unmanly. What is really unmanly is
when you put yourself in harms way because you are too afraid to be branded as effeminate or something because you
are concerned about your skin.
Dealing with Acne and Pimples
A few years ago, men who fretted about their acne and pimples were
frowned upon or scorned outright. Not today. Attitudes have changed, but unfortunately the biological make up of
men and boys has not. They are still more prone to acne and pimples, especially during puberty. If you are a male
who is suffering from acne, DON'T hesitate to seek treatment for your skin problems.
Note that untreated acne and pimples can become infected and can
cause scarring of your skin. If you don’t want to end up with holes and craters in your face, seek skin care
treatment immediately. If somebody tells you that you are vain for seeking skin care treatment, just ignore that
person; he or she doesn't know any better. Besides, there is really nothing wrong with wanting to look good. So go
right ahead and get the best skin care available - you deserve it!
Although many of the companies with products for women also make
men’s skin care products, there are some companies devoted exclusively to men’s skin care. The competition
seems to increase every year because of the success of those companies already providing great products for
men.
