Various Kinds of Cotton Bath Towels
Cotton is one of the oldest used materials for clothing and other supplies for humankind. It is also commonly used
for bath towels but not all materials are the same. Cotton bath towels are a diverse lot and their diversity
depends on the kind of cotton that is used to manufacture them.
Not all so called cotton bath towels are made from 100% cotton. If the label does not state this, then chances are
your bath towel is a mixed blend of cotton and some other materials. Some crafty manufacturers list down cotton as
one of the materials and call their product cotton bath towels.
The reason why cotton bath towels are highly popular is because these are highly absorbent and are also soft to the
skin. Some other materials used for towels do not have the fluffiness or absorbency that cotton lends to cotton
bath towels. Velour looks and feels soft but lack absorbency. Other materials which are made to absorb like chamois
are actually exceptional absorbers but they need extra care in order to maintain their absorbency. These also tend
to attract molds and smell unappealing when stored in the wrong way.
Kinds of Cotton
The kind of cotton used also dictates the price of the towels. Ordinary cotton can achieve fluff and absorbency but
Egyptian or Pima cotton are the top of the line kind of cotton when it comes to softness, durability and
absorbency. There is a marked difference between ordinary cotton bath towels and those made from either Pima or
Egyptian.
It's In the Loops
Ordinary cotton bath towels which are exceptional in their function owe it all to the loops. Other than being 100%
cotton, these loops dictate the absorbency and softness of the towel. Look for towels with longer loops because
these are decidedly softer than others. The number of loops per square inch also dictates the absorbency of the
cotton bath towels. The weight of the towel also says a lot regarding its quality. The heavier cotton towel will
most certainly be the one with the most loops so it follows that it will be the softer and more absorbent one.
These are what you should look for when shopping for cotton bath towels. Cotton bath towels are very easy to find
all over the country. Many stores put their cotton bath towels on sale several times a year so you need not worry
about paying full price.
